A unique hands-on learning experience, with sessions for all ages, learn more about hay baling and have a go yourself! Our pollinators are in decline, biodiversity levels are tumbling, so can we be more planet friendly? As custodians of green space, we have a unique opportunity to give a helping hand to our local wildlife.
We are leaving more of our grass to grow longer and cutting an annual hay crop to encourage our wildflowers to flourish.
Join the gardeners of Winchester Cathedral as they work their two box balers by compressing grass by hand, producing rather wonderful small grass bales.
Children welcome, perfect for those aged 5+!
Booking is not essential but is recommended if you’d like to guarantee your space on the day.
Designed to entertain younger children and families, immerse yourself in a hands-on learning experience and ‘have a go’ at baling.
Bales of hay will be available to purchase from the cathedral grounds for £5 each, on the day of this event.
