Hawaiʻi Wildfire Summit 2026
Join us for the Hawaiʻi Wildfire Summit 2026, a two-day convening on Kauaʻi bringing together agencies, organizations, and communities from across Hawaiʻi to align efforts, share progress, and advance wildfire resilience statewide.
When:
May 7, 2026 (afternoon & evening) and May 8, 2026 (full day)
Schedule-At-A-Glance:
Thursday May 7:
- Registration 2:00–5:00 PM
- Summit Kickoff Afternoon begins at 3:00 PM featuring national partners and wildfire experts sharing perspectives and initiatives from across the country.
- Networking dinner at 6:00 PM
Friday May 8:
- Registration 7:00–9:00 AM
- This is the main day of sessions, running from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with a formal welcome and Hawaiʻi-focused updates across the wildfire system.
Please note: Those unable to attend Thursday’s kickoff, national wildfire perspectives session, and dinner are welcome to join the full-day session on Friday, focused on Hawaiʻi work and next steps.

SUMMIT PROGRAM
THURSDAY MAY 7, 2026 (Afternoon and Evening Only)
Kickoff Session: National Perspectives
The summit begins at 3:00 PM with an afternoon kickoff session bringing attendees together for a shared start to the event. Highlights include:
- Welcome from state and county partners
- Opening ceremony, including Honor Guard and national anthem
- National perspectives on wildfire management, intiatives, and coordination
This session sets the stage for the summit, connecting Hawaiʻi’s efforts to broader national strategies and partnerships.
Networking Reception and Dinner
Reception: Following the kickoff session, participants are welcome to stay for a hosted reception to connect and continue the conversation from 5:00-6:00 PM , or take time for a break, or to check into accommodations.
Dinner: We invite you to return at 6:00 PM for a hosted dinner, offering a relaxed opportunity to connect and/or reconnect with colleagues and partners from across Hawaiʻi and the broader U.S.
FRIDAY MAY 8, 2026: (Full Day, 9:00 AM–4:00 PM)
Day two begins at 9:00AM and includes lunch, featuring a full program day focused on Hawaiʻi-specific efforts across three core areas:
SESSION 1: FIRE ADAPTED COMMUNITIES (FAC)
Explore how people, policies, and the built environment contribute to wildfire resilience, with presentations and panels on:
- Firewise Communities panel featuring local leaders
- Kauaʻi planning and WUI code implementation
- State policy, funding, and CWPP updates
SESSION 2: WILDFIRE RESILIENT LANDSCAPES (WRL)
Focus on land management strategies that support healthy, fire-resilient ecosystems, featuring the following topics:
- Statewide grant program projects and lessons learned
- County mitigation efforts and updates
- Practical strategies for managing wildfire risk across landscapes
SESSION 3: SAFE & EFFECTIVE RESPONSE (SER)
Learn how fire and emergency response agencies are strengthening preparedness and coordination, including sessions on:
- County and statewide response coordination efforts
- Cross-agency collaboration and operational strategies
Final Reflections & Coordination
The summit concludes with a forward-looking discussion on statewide collaboration, coordination, and shared responsibility, reinforcing the theme of One Team. A Shared Mission. Our Kuleana.
