About this Event
The Louisiana Delta Community College Foundation, in partnership with Hotel Monroe, will host the fifth annual Hats & Horses Kentucky Derby celebration on Saturday, May 2, 2026, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Now in its fifth year, Hats & Horses has become one of the region’s most anticipated spring social events — blending Southern elegance, spirited competition, and meaningful impact. Proceeds from the event directly support scholarships and student assistance funds for individuals enrolled in both short-term workforce certifications and long-term academic programs at Louisiana Delta Community College.
Guests will enjoy:
- LIve streaming of the Kentucky Derby race
- A classic Mint Julep Bar, Derby Favorite
- A spirited Bourbon Pull featuring premium selections
- Elevated Derby-inspired cuisine by Chef Karen Bennett
- Full cash bar with beer, wine, and curated selections
- Choose your favorite horse and win a chance for a $250 VISA gift card
- A competitive silent auction with great gifts for everyone
- Crowd-favorite Best Hat and Best Dressed contests, and more
Attendees are invited to “come as you are” or fully embrace Derby fashion with bold hats, bow ties, and vibrant spring attire.
“Hats & Horses is more than a party — it’s a celebration with purpose,” said Frank Bennett, Director of Institutional Advancement and Alumni Relations. “Every ticket purchased, every bid placed, and every Bourbon Pull entry directly supports students working to build better futures for themselves and their families.”
Funds raised will provide critical scholarship support for students pursuing high-demand career pathways, including healthcare, skilled trades, business, technology, and academic transfer programs. For many students, scholarship assistance bridges the gap between enrollment and completion.
The event will be held at Hotel Monroe in downtown Monroe, at 120 Walnut Street, offering an upscale atmosphere perfect for watching the Kentucky Derby, networking with community leaders, and supporting workforce education in Northeast Louisiana.
