Harvest Ready - Chainsaw Safety Workshop
Facilitated by Ceilidh Meo – Long Road Olive Co-op
As part of the Harvest Ready Program, you're invited to join us for a practical, safety-focused Chainsaw Safety Workshop designed for beginners and those looking to build confidence using chainsaws for garden, orchard, or land-care work.
This 3-hour workshop combines clear, accessible theory with supervised hands-on practice. Participants will learn how to safely operate and maintain a chainsaw, understand key workplace health and safety (WHS) considerations, and develop correct techniques for pruning and cross-cutting logs.
The session will cover:
Identification and function of chainsaw parts
Core WHS principles and risk management when using chainsaws
Comparison of 2-stroke and electric chainsaws, including suitability for different tasks
Demonstration of safe techniques for pruning and cross-cutting logs
A supervised practical component to apply learning in a supported environment
This workshop is ideal for community members, volunteers, gardeners, and people interested in agricultural or land-care skills. No prior chainsaw experience is required.
Facilitator: Ceilidh Meo (Long Road Olive Co-op)
Date: Saturday 18th April, 2026
