Enjoy a movie the way audiences did before the advent of the talking picture with a screening of the classic 1924 silent romantic comedy film Girl Shy starring Hollywood legend Harold Lloyd.Experience the film with a live score by award-winning organist Ian Fraser (https://ianfraserorganist.com/) performed on the Garden State Theatre Organ Society's restored 1920s Mighty Wurlitzer Theatre Organ. Hear over 750 real organ pipes built into the walls of the theatre filling the space with music just like it was 1924 all over again!
Arrive early at 1:30 PM to hear a special pre-show organ performance by Ian featuring music from Hollywood, Broadway, the Great American Songbook and more!
Every ticket holder will receive a pair of Harold Lloyd inspired horn-rimmed glasses to help celebrate his 133rd birthday (April 20th, 1893) and to use in our themed photo booth.
About the Film:
Girl Shy was produced by and stars Harold Lloyd as a shy young man who can't talk to women. He ventures out to publish a book full of fictional conquests but finds true love (Jobyna Ralston) along the way. However, on the verge of losing her to another man, he must battle his way through crowded streets where comedic antics ensue!
