Welcome to Harnessing the Power of AI: An Introduction to Using Artificial Intelligence!

Join us at the Diane M. Halle Library for an exciting in-person event where you'll dive into the world of artificial intelligence. Whether you're a beginner or looking to expand your knowledge, this event is perfect for anyone curious about AI.

This hour-long talk will be presented by two of Endicott College’s Academic Technology experts, Hedrick Ellis and Dr. Jim Lacey, who have over 30 years of experience in the field. The talk will include an overview of recent developments in the world of AI and will demonstrate live examples of how it can be used to accomplish a variety of tasks more efficiently. Attendees are encouraged to bring laptops for some hands-on practice with AI tools such as ChatGPT.


About the Presenters:

Hedrick Ellis has worked in educational technology for over 30 years. At Endicott, he helps faculty to integrate technology into their teaching and has taught courses in the Schools of Education and Engineering. He recently opened an XR Lab which includes tools for augmented, virtual, and mixed reality, and has helped faculty in a variety of fields to integrate virtual reality into their teaching. He received a B.A. in History from Brown and an Ed. M. in Technology in Education from Harvard.

Jim Lacey`s "first life" was in the Massachusetts high-tech industry, after which he earned a Ph.D. in Economics and moved into college instruction. After 10 years as a college professor, Jim segued into online administration & development, earning a Certificate in Educational Technology from MIT and a Graduate Certificate in Instructional Design from U. Maryland. At Endicott since 2018, Jim has worked with faculty to create courses and train faculty in Instructional Technology.
