About this Event

Knowing that we are living through a time of great uncertainty, political and social upheaval is one thing: figuring out how to meet the complexity and work with it, poses a different challenge. Join us in person or online to learn together, how to work with complex situations, using systemic and Human Learning Systems approaches.

We are joined, in the room, by Dr. Joan O'Donnell will look at how to approach complexity through a systemic lens, Prof Toby Lowe, who will explore the potential of Human Learning Systems and Louise McCulloch who will moderate a discussion spotlighting some current innovations in supports and services grounded in a learning culture.

This is a hybrid event. When you register you will have the opportunity to join us in person or online. By signing up, you are agreeing to the event being recorded for future sharing.

Finding focus and scope in the midst of complexity and uncertainty

Info: Welcomes and introductions. It can be hard to pin down a problem situation when everything is interdependent and there are so many different opinions on the 'right' thing to do. This short introduction to taking a systemic approach, illustrates a way to structure a situation so you can design a learning system around it.

Introduction to Human Learning Systems
Host: Prof. Toby Lowe

Info: The Human Learning Systems approach starts with the belief that public service exists to support human freedom and flourishing. To do this, services must embrace the complex reality of the 21st Century world. Focusing on the relationships between people and continuous learning is key to meeting future challenges. Toby will introduce ideas around how to develop more relational services backed by pragmatic policy-making.

Host: Moderator: Louise McCulloch

Info: Shining a light on positive developments in relational practice and learning in health and social care services and place-based leadership. Louise will moderate contributions from key leaders on ground-up learning in action.
