Harmony In Harlem, the Cambridge-based 16-piece jazz orchestra, return to the Maltings with a performance tailored for the swing dance community.
Bring your dancing shoes and lindyhop the afternoon away to the sounds of Duke Ellington, the greatest composer/bandleader in the history of jazz.
The afternoon will be supplemented by a DJ in the intervals, and The East Anglia Swing Dance Troupe will perform exhibition dances.
Musical director Michael Kilpatrick has an international reputation for his work in studying and recreating Duke Ellington's music, from the sounds of the Cotton Club era to the exotica of his later years. Harmony In Harlem remains unique in the arena of big bands with its repertoire of fully authentic Ellingtonia.
On Sunday 7th June, we welcome our regular listeners too. Seating will be provided although the majority of the floor will be set aside for dancing.
