Join us for a special weekend harmonium & kirtan training from visiting harmonium instructor, Seth Lieberman. This weekend-long immersive workshop is intended for complete beginner through intermediate levels of harmonium playing, focused on a western style of music playing (not Indian raga or sargam). You do not need any prior experience to participate. You will learn beautiful chant music on the harmonium, learn the foundations of music theory, practice leading kirtan, and go deeply into the spiritual practice of kirtan with others. This course will be conducted in a fun, interactive way in a small group learning environment. All levels are welcome.
Students must provide their own harmonium to participate. If you do not have an instrument, you can buy or rent one from: http://india-instruments.de/
Space is very limited.
This course will be conducted in English.
Topics covered will include:
*Introduction / Review of Harmonium Playing Basics
*Discussion on the history, purpose, and philosophy of Kirtan
*Basic music theory and musicianship (Western)
*Using your voice for kirtan
*Kirtan leadership
