About this Event
Construction workers face one of the highest suicide rates of any profession in the United States. The industry that builds our roads, our skylines, and our communities is losing its own people at rates far above the national average — and too often, in silence.
Hard Hat Courage is changing that.
Launched in May 2025 by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Hard Hat Courage is a national initiative bringing suicide prevention education, language, and tools directly into the construction and trades workforce. Since launch, the campaign has already reached more than 188,000 craft and construction professionals across the country!
The Hard Hat Courage Industry Breakfast Launch is a gathering of construction and trades leaders from across our region. Join us for a conversation about what it looks like to prioritize mental health the same way we prioritize physical safety on every job site.
The morning will include:
A condensed presentation of Talk Saves Lives: Construction Industry — AFSP's free, field-tested suicide prevention program built specifically for the trades, recognized by the Suicide Prevention Resource Center on its national Best Practices Registry. 94% of participants say they would reach out for help after attending.
An introduction to Toolbox Talks — short, jobsite-ready mental health conversations in English and Spanish, designed to drop directly into your existing safety meeting cadence.
