Join us for our legendary Wednesday Happy Hour at The Record Archive Backroom Lounge! Happy Hour starts at 5PM, Live music at 6PM.There is an underlying theme in the songs of singer/songwriter River Lynch...stay true to yourself and be whoever you wish to be. Starting out in Rochester, NY, River began pursuing his passion for writing songs at the age of seventeen. Determined to forge his own path, River made the decision to leave college and dedicate his life to writing, recording, and performing music in a style that is completely his own. One day he walked into a local music shop, saw a six string Rickenbacker guitar hanging up on the wall and proceeded to make the best purchase of his life.
In the vein of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Roots Rock, Blues, and Americana; the band has received comparisons to artists such as Tom Petty, The Black Keys, and Alabama Shakes, while bringing a renewed energy to their own bluesy, hook-filled, vintage influenced sound. “The sound transcends what we think of as a typical rock outfit”, says EarToTheGroundMusic.com. The bands sound revolves around the songwriting structure of River's songs; a singer-songwriter with a rock solid band. Although influenced by music from the fifties, sixties, and seventies, River avoids simply being a replication of the past and instead has set out to create an identity all his own.
River released his debut EP There Goes the Heart in 2016 with band member Schuyler Skuse (bass) and local Rochester musicians. The original intention of the band was to release the EP but quickly grew into what has now become River Lynch and The Spiritmakers. They have since independently released six additional singles and have been performing live across New York, the East Coast, and Canada. River Lynch has opened for Three Dog Night, Dave Mason, Rusted Root, The Blue Stones, Jesse Dayton, Carbon Leaf, and the Legendary Shack Shakers.
Buffablog.com describes them as “…a call to arms to fellow rock revivalists ready to reassert the primacy of rock music."
