About this Event
HAPÉ: THE SILENCER
A Sacred Gathering at Temple Mother Earth
Every 3rd Thursday of the Month · Washington, DC
There is a kind of quiet most of us have forgotten how to find.
Not the quiet of an empty room. The quiet underneath the thoughts.
The quiet your nervous system has been asking for.
You may already know what this is like.
The mind that will not stop running. The to-do list that follows you into bed. The sense that you are always on, always tracking, always one tab too many open.
You sit down to rest and the noise comes with you.
This gathering is for the part of you that has been waiting to land.
WHAT THIS IS
Hapé: The Silencer is a ceremonial gathering held at Temple Mother Earth.
Hapé (pronounced ha-PAY) is a sacred preparation made from ceremonially harvested tobacco and medicinal plant ashes, used for generations by Amazonian peoples in their spiritual traditions. It is one of the most respected sacraments in indigenous ceremonial practice, known for its capacity to ground, clear, and bring the practitioner into deep presence.
We hold this ceremony monthly, on the third Thursday, as a steady anchor in the rhythm of our community.
This volume of the ceremony falls during our May Sacred Series Week: The Remembrance and serves as the second gathering in that week's arc for those holding the full container.
WHAT THIS EXPERIENCE OFFER
A quieting of mental noise and overthinking
Grounding into the body and the earth beneath you
A sense of clearing, energetic, emotional, and somatic
Stillness and presence in a way that feels unmistakable
Space for clarity, intention-setting, or prayer
A felt sense of community and held silence
We make no promises about what your evening will hold. We prepare the space carefully and trust what arises.
WHO THIS IS FOR
→ The overthinker who cannot find the off switch
→ Anyone whose nervous system has been running too hot for too long
→ The one who has tasted ceremony and is ready for something more direct
→ The person seeking grounding before a season of change or decision
→ Anyone joining for Sacred Series Week and continuing the arc
WHAT TO EXPECT
The evening unfolds with care:
Arrival, grounding, and intention-setting
A ceremonial opening rooted in the lineages this sacrament comes from
The sacred work itself, held one-on-one with a trained facilitator
Time for stillness, integration, and inward presence
A gentle closing in community before departure
This is a more direct ceremony than some. It is not gentle in the way Cacao is gentle. It is precise, meant to clear the field and bring you fully into the present moment.
You are held the entire time. Nothing is rushed. Nothing is performed.
IMPORTANT NOTES
This sacrament contains ceremonial tobacco. If you have a heart condition, high blood pressure, are pregnant or nursing, or have a sensitivity to tobacco, please contact us before registering. We will guide you toward the right entry point.
Please arrive on a light stomach and well hydrated.
Wear comfortable clothing. Bring a journal if you like. Phones silenced and stored.
This is not typically recommended as a first ceremony for those entirely new to sacred container work. If this is your first time with us, reach out, we are happy to guide you toward the right starting place.
Capacity is limited. We respond to every inquiry personally.
If your mind has been loud for a long time, there is a quiet waiting for you here.
The Temple holds this space monthly. Come when the timing is right.
