About this Event
Join us for an engaging, in-person monthly meeting of the Hanover Virginia Amateur Radio Club (HVARC) — one of the region’s fastest-growing, most welcoming ham radio communities.
Whether you're an experienced operator, brand new to the hobby, a scanner listener, a public-safety professional, or just curious about radio technology, you'll find a friendly group that loves to share knowledge, help newcomers, and have fun with all things RF.
What to Expect
- A relaxed, welcoming environment — no experience required
- Tech demos, show-and-tell, and hands-on gear (HTs, HF setups, digital modes & more)
- Presentations and mini-workshops on topics like P25, DMR, antenna building, emergency communications, propagation, and practical radio skills
- Updates on local repeaters, events, nets, and club activities
- A chance to meet 40-50+ local hams across all ages and experience levels
- Time to ask questions, get advice, and connect with a community of radio enthusiasts
Why Attend?
HVARC is a modern, fast-growing, in-person club built on community, learning, and helping each other grow. We’re hands-on, active, and not your typical old-school ham club. If you’ve been looking for local radio folks to learn from, hang out with, or get on the air with — this is the place.
