Join the Augusta Museum of History for Hands On History Workshops. Please note that there are only 15 spots and this is a workshop for adults 17 and older. On Saturday April 25 we will focus on the handmade pine needle baskets that are a part of the Museum's collection. This craft has been utilized for centuries in this area first by the indigenous tribes and then by the colonial settlers. We will look at some of the examples the Museum has in the collection, learn the history, and then take some time to learn the technique of coiling. All the supplies for this workshop will be provided along with instructions for you to take home and share with friends and family. Mostly this will be a time spent around the table learning, listening and getting lost in the repetitive nature of this craft.
