About this Event
Join Food Well Alliance and Josh Fuder, Cherokee County Extension Agent and NAFEX Board Member, for a hands-on Fruit Tree Pruning Workshop at the Westview Community Orchard!
This two hour workshop will provide a thorough introduction to fruit tree pruning. You'll learn best practices and benefits of pruning for both new and established, then get hands-on opportunities to test out what you've learned. This workshop will help you feel more confident pruning your trees.
Note: This workshop offers more hands-on learning than the pruning workshop at our annual Fruit Tree Sale. This is perfect if you're ready to practice with real trees.
What to Bring:
- Pruners, loppers, hand saws, and garden gloves (we'll have some to share, but bringing your own is recommended)
- Weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy closed-toed shoes
Location Details: We'll be outdoors at Westview Community Orchard. The orchard has uneven, sloped, and unpaved terrain. Street parking is available along S. Gordon Street. There are no restrooms at the orchard, but we can direct you to nearby businesses if needed.
Westview Orchard Overview: The Westview Orchard is a public, volunteer-run orchard located in the Westview neighborhood in Atlanta. Its programming is supported by the Westview Community Organization (WCO). To get involved with the Westview Orchard, please email [email protected].
