Featuring master Oaxacan potter Rufina Ruiz Lopez! What you’re drinking from is as important as what you’re drinking, and we demonstrate exactly that at this event on Friday, August 2nd. Fresh off her appearance at the Smithsonian’s Folklife Festival, Rufina Ruiz Lopez of Taller Ruiz Lopez drops in to demonstrate how she makes ceramics drawing inspiration from her Zapotec and Mixtec roots and her reverence for the life-giving earth. She will share her ancestral techniques for preparing and forming clay vessels, and each attendee will leave with one of those vessels. Rufina’s visit to Chicago is organized by SACRED and sponsored by PKGD. Lou Bank of SACRED will be on hand sharing pours from some of PKGD’s import brands:
- Mezcal Ultramundo
- Mezcal Palomo
- Raicilla El Acabo
- Raicilla Asil
Come taste some of the finest handmade spirits from Mexico in some of the finest handmade copitas!
