About this Event
Join us for one or both of Jemimah's sessions!
QUILTS AS MUTUAL AID: 12.30-2pm
During this informal lunchtime talk we will explore histories of radical quilting and fibre based art as a means of mutual aid. Together we will unravel visual histories of quilts as a non-verbal way of marking history and as a tool to agitate social change. During the session we will consider the practicalities of fundraising and arts as activism, specifically in relation to our collective quilt.
HANDHELD SOLIDARITY: 2.30-5.30pm
Come along to the second, follow-up Handheld Solidarity workshop to take part in quilt stitching our collaborative quilt. In this session we will be collectively sewing the structural backbone to the three layers of fabric which will form our quilt. Together we will consider possibilities for the binding and texture through our stitch design. No prior sewing experience or attendance to the first workshop required to take part. The finished textile piece will be raffled to raise funds for the Women's Support Center in Nablus, Palestine.
These events are free and open to all. If you are able to make a donation, this will go to the Women's Support Center in Nablus, Palestine.
