About this Event
In this workshop we'll reflect on what it means to hold something in the palm of our hands.
There will be two 2-hour sessions. In the first session, we'll spend time with objects in the Office of Collecting & Design and consider the object we want to reflect on, hold or write about. Writers will leave the first session with a reading list of poems about objects for inspiration or reflection as they write their own.
In the second session, we'll meet to talk about the process in a supportive space and share the poem we've each written about the object(s).
THIS IS A TWO-PART EVENT.
The first session will take place on Saturday, July 20th from 3-5pm. The second session will take place on Sunday, July 21 from 3-5pm. Please be sure you are available for both sessions.
About the Instructor: Colette LaBouff is the author of MEAN (U. of Chicago Press 2008), a collection of prose poems, and HOLDINGS (Container 2019), a text-object, as well as other essays and poems.
