The 2nd annual Handel Aria Competition High School Singers Master Class will offer young singers a chance to experience the incredible music of Handel in a low-stress, supportive environment that celebrates their work and all things Handel. It will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2-4pm, at MYArts (1055 E Mifflin Madison, WI 53703) in conjunction with the Madison Youth Choirs. This event is open to all area high school age singers. Singers should prepare a Handel aria (even just one section is fine - and no need to memorize) to the point where they are comfortable singing it to get feedback.
Participating singers will get a chance to sing for a small, supportive audience, will receive thoughtful feedback from David Ronis (UW-Madison Associate Professor and Director of University Opera), and will be accompanied by Scott Gendel. Each participant will get $100 to use for private voice study or participation in Madison Youth Choirs. Participation is limited to six singers. For more information, contact [email protected].
The event will be free and open to the public, so we also encourage interested singers to just come and support those participating!
