First performed in Dublin in 1742, Messiah by George Frideric Handel is among the world’s most consistently performed works and a beloved staple of the Yuletide season. It depicts key events in the life of Jesus Christ in an operatic mix of recitatives, arias, and powerful choruses. Join the BVC as we present the Christmas portion of this beautiful oratorio, including the joyous Hallelujah Chorus!
The concert also features the stirring “Magnificat” by composeress Dale Trumbore. The lyrics are from a nativity poem by Lynn Ungar — based on Mary’s words of praise and prophecy.
The program will contain additional seasonal selections — with the singers being accompanied on stage by a chamber orchestra.
