Tickets are on sale now for HAND TO GOD, the ferociously funny and wickedly dark comedy by Robert Askins, running May 21–June 6 at The Listening Room at Hamilton Sudio in Spokane. Directed by Troy Nickerson and produced by Chris Jensen, this marks the regional premiere of a play that earned five Tony Award nominations on Broadway, including Best Play.
Set inside a small-town Texas church, HAND TO GOD follows Jason, a shy and grieving teenager whose hand puppet — created for a church youth group — begins to take on a disturbing life of its own. Part comedy, part horror, and entirely riveting, Askins’ play probes faith, repression, sexuality, and the darkness that lurks beneath the most wholesome of surfaces.
“Furiously funny… Askins’ most impressive talent is his ability to make us laugh while juggling those big themes that make life so terrifying.” — Variety
The production features a cast of local and regional favorites, including Declan Sheehan, Doug Dawson, Eleanor Weitz, Noah Graybeal, and Caryn Hoaglund.
Please note: HAND TO GOD is intended for mature audiences. No one under the age of 13 will be admitted under any circumstances, and all minors must be accompanied by an adult.
