Create your own clay mug, bowl, or other vessel in a relaxed, beginner‑friendly workshop that teaches simple hand‑building techniques.
About this Event

You will learn to

  • Build a basic vessel using pinch, coil, or slab hand‑building techniques.
  • Shape walls, refine form, and add texture or simple decorative details.
  • Finish your piece for firing by smoothing surfaces and preparing it for the kiln.

How the class works

  • Start with a brief demo and safety intro, then guided warm‑up with clay to build confidence.
  • Work step‑by‑step: instructor demos, hands‑on practice, and one‑on‑one feedback.
  • Finish with surface choices, drying prep, and a clear firing/pickup timeline.

What's included

  • All class materials provided
  • Open studio access from 2:00 to 6:30 PM (shared basic art supplies for independent work provided)
  • Light snacks, tea, water, and coffee

A few things to note

  • You’re welcome to arrive anytime during the studio access hours to enjoy the open studio, but please make sure you arrive at least 10 minutes before your class start time (2:30 PM, 90-minute class) so you can settle in.
  • During open studio hours, you’re welcome to work on your own project, enjoy light snacks, tea, and coffee, and connect with other creative people at your own pace.

Additional firing fees apply if you decide to keep your creation:

  • Bisque and glaze firing: $0.16 per cubic inch
  • $10 glazing and handling fee per piece
  • Finished pieces will be available for pickup at a later date.
