Whether you’re a curious artist, designer, student, or sustainability enthusiast, this course invites you to create your own biomaterials and transform them into unique textile or fashion pieces. Along the way, you'll dive into emerging trends in sustainable fashion, gaining insight into how biomaterials are revolutionizing the industry.
In this workshop, participants will:
- Get an introduction to biomaterials and their applications in fashion;
- Do hands-on experience with biofabrication process to make biomaterial;
- Learn sustainable design principles and practices;
- Gain insights into fashion forecasting to anticipate trends and innovations in sustainable fashion
No prior experience in fashion or biology is required!
Meet the Intructor
Lolo Ostia, (she/her).
Driven by curiosity, an interest for sustainability, biological design, and audience engagement, she channels inspiration into crafting immersive environments. Characterized by a playful use of scale and dimensional layers, her installations aim to transport the viewer into a place where perception, sensation, and emotion meet. In her practice she incorporates: Microbes, Bacterial Cellulose, Recycled Objects, Emerging Technologies and Bioplastics, sourced from renewable, non-petroleum-derived materials.Currently, Lolo is an Artist-in-residence at Governors Island, NY.
