Halloween J-Film | RINGU
Presented by the Japan Information & Culture Center, Embassy of Japan and Japan Commerce Association of Washington D.C.
For Halloween, we are excited to show RINGU (1998), the iconic J-Horror film that is guaranteed to send chills down your spine.
NAKATA Hideo’s RINGU hit screens in 1998, quickly becoming a commercial and critical success in Japan and abroad. An adaptation of a popular book of the same name, it follows a journalist, played by MATSUSHIMA Nanako, as she investigates an urban legend; a VHS tape that, when played, causes the viewer to die seven days later. The investigation takes her and her ex-husband, played by SANADA Hiroyuki, to unexpected places and brings them face to face with Sadako, a now iconic character in the horror genre.
Join us on October 23rd and October 28th to see the film that sparked a J-Horror sensation worldwide and a generation of screams!
