Steeped in centuries of history, Durham School is one of the North East’s most intriguing and atmospheric investigation locations. As darkness falls, areas rarely accessed by the public take on a very different character, with long corridors, historic rooms, and shadowed spaces creating an environment rich in atmosphere and reported paranormal experiences.

Investigators and visitors alike have described a strong sense of presence after nightfall, with the building’s imposing architecture and deep-rooted history contributing to an intense and immersive investigation setting. The quiet stillness of the school at night often heightens awareness, making even the smallest sound or movement feel significant.

• Experienced investigators leading and supporting your group throughout the night
• A serious, professional paranormal investigation — nothing faked, staged, or exaggerated
• Historical insight into the location, including documented history and reported activity
• Paranormal instruction and hands-on use of equipment, with guidance provided
• Opportunities to take part in experiments using both traditional and modern paranormal devices
• Small group activities (no more than 10 guests per investigator on all events)
• A fully interactive experience, with participation encouraged at your own comfort level
• Suitable for complete beginners and experienced investigators alike
• A protection prayer offered at the start of the event for those who wish to take part
• Refreshments provided throughout the night:

  • Snacks: biscuits, crisps, and chocolate bars

Dormatory and bunk style beds are provided for sleeping. Guests are asked to provide their own bedding and pillows for sleeping. Breakfast and snacks throughout the night are provided and these include: toast, weetabix, cornflakes and pastries.

All payments are non-refundable and non-transferable, regardless of personal circumstances. Before booking, please ensure you are able to attend the event, as refunds, transfers, or credit notes will not be issued.

Age Requirement: This event is for ages 16 and over. Guests aged 16–18 must be supervised at all times by a responsible adult.

Pregnancy: This event is not suitable for pregnant individuals due to the nature of the environment and potential hazards.

Accessibility & Mobility: This location is not wheelchair accessible and includes stairs and uneven surfaces that may present difficulties for guests with mobility issues.

Mental Health: This event is not recommended for individuals with certain mental health conditions, including severe anxiety, PTSD, heart conditions, or phobias, due to the potentially intense environment.

Substance Use: Guests under the influence of drugs or alcohol will not be permitted entry and will not be entitled to a refund.

General Safety: Guests must follow all instructions given by event staff. Failure to do so may result in removal from the event without refund.

Personal Responsibility: All participants attend at their own risk. Kindred Spirit Investigations and the venue accept no liability for injury, loss, or damage to personal belongings.

• Footwear: Wear flat, sturdy, and comfortable shoes suitable for prolonged walking and standing
• Clothing: Warm, layered clothing is advised, as some areas may be cold or draughty
• Lighting: Guests are encouraged to bring their own torches or personal lighting
• Responsibility: Participation is at your own risk. Failure to follow safety guidance may increase the risk of injury
• Supervision: Children and young people must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times
