PATRICK TOPPING BIO:

British artist Patrick Topping is an Award-winning DJ & producer, head of the record label & event series Trick and resident this summer 2023 at the world's number 1 club, as voted by DJ Mag, Hï Ibiza. As one of the breakout artists of his generation, he has contributed a constant flow of positivity to the culture he loves so dearly, becoming one of the scene's most popular DJs in the process. Patrick was recently awarded DJ Mag's Best British DJ 2022, following up his 2014 DJ Mag 'Best of British' Award for Tune Of the year in 2014 for Forget. He has also been awarded three DJ Awards in Ibiza — 2018 Tech House DJ, 2014 Newcomer DJ and Track Of The Summer for Forget.

At the root of his incredible success are several core principles; passion for the music, a deep rooted desire to cultivate community, impeccable technical skills and a genuinely warm, friendly disposition. Driven by these fundamental elements Patrick has attained international status as a headline act, with an illustrious discography and a highly established label and party brand. As he continues to inject his energy into refining his craft and building his own crew of talented acts, Patrick is entering a new level of artistry…

In 2019 he launched Trick, a label and event brand, set up to provide a platform for his own music and to act as an incubator for up-and-coming artists, as well as a home for established acts. As an A&R, Patrick has been at the forefront of pushing a new ravey sound within the UK house & techno scene, whilst also attaining UK chart success with two releases, Ewan Mcvicar's Tell Me Something Good in 2021 and Schak's Moving All Around in 2022. For both those artists, Trick was their first label and for so many other new acts, Patrick and Trick have helped launch many successful careers, whilst simultaneously changing the landscape of the UK club scene in the process.

Trick is now over 73 releases deep, with many of those being the first ever release for then unknown artists. The label has also been graced by more established artists, with Eats Everything, Eli Brown, Alan Fitzpatirck, Will Clarke, and Gerd Janson among them.

The Trick parties are now some of the most popular events throughout the UK and now spreading out throughout the world. 2022 saw a successful 10 week residency at the fabled Ibiza nightclub DC10, as well as hosting stages at some of the world's premiere festivals such as EDC Orlando and Creamfeilds in England. Other notable events have been 8000+ people at Cardiff Castle and numerous takeovers of legendary venues such as The Warehouse Project Manchester, Printworks London and Pica Warehouse in Melbourne, amongst many others.

Since his early days as a key member of Jamie Jones' Hot Creations family, Patrick has demonstrated his prowess in the studio and on stage. With Jamie acting as a mentor and releasing Patrick's debut EP in 2013, he quickly ascended through the ranks, becoming a resident at Jamie's Paradise parties at DC-10, landing himself other high-profile shows in Ibiza and across the rest of Europe and the world. He's gone on to play many of the world's most influential clubs from Fabric London, Warung Brazil and Space Miami, to festivals including Coachella, Glastonbury, Awakenings, Ultra, and Tomorrowland.

Production-wise, early hits such as the collaboration with Chicago legend Green Velvet — 'Voicemail' (2014) established his ability to produce high-grade dance floor weaponry. Leading to his last original work with Hot Creations — the massive 'Be Sharp Say Nowt' (2017) going on to become certified silver in the UK in 2021. But rather than stick with a formula, Patrick decided to invest his creative energy into exploring other styles; channeling his eclectic tastes into a variety of releases and launching his label Trick in 2019, a platform he has used to present a broader representation of himself as an artist.

In recent years he's collaborated with house and techno legend Kevin Saunderson on 'Frisk,' which was used as part of the official soundtrack to The Batman film (2022) and has remixed high-profile artists including The Streets, Sam Fender, Robyn and Calvin Harris, also reworking house classics such 'Don't Call Me Baby' by Madison Avenue and Paul Johnson's 'Dance with Me,' among others. As a selector, prides himself on keeping the energy levels high, while ensuring that he spins a variety of styles.

He's dipped into house, techno, disco, trance, donk & makina, diversifying his output with a firm focus on enjoying the creative process. This is evident in every release, there's a distinct flow of energy and an upbeat feeling that emanates from Patrick's music. His dedication to the art of making music has resulted in an extended period of exploration during lockdown, including very personal developments such as releasing two tracks with his wife's vocals, 'New Reality' and 'Disco Hits,' as well recording his own debut vocals for the upcoming concept EP — Planet Session.

With his experience as a member of the Hot Creations crew, Patrick has been steadily cultivating a community around Trick. From the lesser-known artists he has signed and championed, to the regulars at his parties, there's an innate desire to use his position to bring people together and give back to the culture he loves so much. Just as he was mentored by Jamie Jones, Patrick is now committed to passing on his knowledge and experience to younger artists and welcoming them into the Trick family as residents and regulars on the label.

Still driven by the same pure, concentrated energy that inspired him as a raver, Patrick Topping is relishing the opportunity to live out his dreams while also keeping his feet firmly on the ground. A hard working, humble and visionary artist, he is bound to continue making an invaluable contribution to club culture; whether he's on the decks, in the studio or through the new generation of young acts he's bringing up with him…

KEVIN KNAPP BIO:

Kevin Knapp keeps things punchy. His kicks are designed to make booties drop. His grooves balance the thunderous with the beautiful and synths ensure the club pops right off. It has been this way for more than a decade since the American first broke through and brought with him his lifelong love of 90s hip hop. Today, he is right at the forefront of the house scene as a DJ, producer, and Plump Recordings label boss who proudly advocates body-positive, queer-positive, and anti-racist messages in everything he does.

Knapp’s robust but characterful beats have come on labels like Cuttin Headz, Repopulate Mars, Crosstown Rebels, Desert Hearts, and many more. They pair heavy low ends with bouncing kicks and full-flavor chords and samples that bring rich color and irresistible charm. A competitive choir singer since 8th grade, Kevin brings vocals to his work that help marry tracks together in his own unique style.

Whether working solo or alongside Jamie Rial from Audiojack on new side project KJ Cuts, the rule is always the same: if it doesn’t make Kevin lose his shit, it isn’t finished. Because of that, his early cuts like ‘The Drums’ with Richy Ahmed remain dance floor classics, while further tracks like ‘The Heft’, ‘Vibrate,’ and ‘Dancing with the Devil’ have shown a diversity to his sound that always stands him apart.

The Oakland-based artist’s high-impact club sets are informed by the energy of the DJ battles he loved as a youth: hard-hitting house that tugs at the heartstrings and fuses big bottom ends with melancholic moments that touch the soul. As a DJ, Knapp connects with 200 dancers as well as 2000 dancers everywhere from fabric London to Kater Blau Berlin via CircoLoco Ibiza, Sonar, Elrow, and Sankeys, always with his larger-than-life character at the heart of his sound.

Though his popular limited video series about food and house music, Beats ‘N Eats, is now dormant, it provided a great insight into Knapp’s rich creativity. He continues to show that with Plump Recordings, one of the contemporary scene’s finest house outlets with a focus on releasing music that references the origins that birthed it while giving freedom and ownership to label artists. “If it bumps, I’ll sign in. It’s really that simple,” says Kevin. It’s an honest and effective approach that ensures he will continue to rise throughout 2024 and beyond.
