About this Event
We’ve got something new for the next Radio Meetup.
Mark (KB3LYB) will be walking through how to set up and use EchoLink, including how it ties into a repeater system. This is one of those setups that adds a lot of capability without requiring expensive hardware or a complicated build.
If you’ve ever wanted to:
- Connect your radio to the internet
- Extend your reach beyond local repeaters
- Understand how systems like EchoLink work
This will give you a clear, practical overview. Mark is well practiced with these systems and will be sharing his work on the W3EXW repeater a well as the basic setup. No prerequisites. If you have a handheld and basic familiarity with repeaters, you’ll be able to follow along. Come by, ask questions, and see how far you can actually push a simple setup.

The Hackers Guild Radio Club Meetup is an open session dedicated to the exploration and practice of radio in all its forms.
This event is designed as a collaborative laboratory rather than a formal meeting. Participants are invited to bring equipment and actively engage in experimentation. Radios may be tuned across the bands, SDR waterfalls examined in real time, antennas evaluated, and digital modes explored. Members often share builds, compare setups, and work through technical challenges together.
While amateur radio remains a central theme, the scope is intentionally broad. SDR experimentation, RF theory, spectrum monitoring, embedded radio projects, and cybersecurity-oriented signal analysis all fit naturally within the session. If it involves transmitting, receiving, modulating, decoding, or analyzing RF energy, it has a place at the table.
Newcomers will find experienced operators willing to explain concepts and demonstrate equipment. Experienced members will find an environment that supports deeper technical discussion and experimentation.
The Radio Club Meetup exists to foster hands-on competence, collaborative learning, and a disciplined but open exploration of radio technology.
