This is a one-day event for UK based people about 3D heritage data
About this Event

Digital 3D data is revolutionizing how we understand our past, yet it remains one of the most "at risk" forms of digital heritage.

UK based professionals and non-professionals working with digital 3D heritage data are invited to join us for a collaborative, participant-led day to bridge the gap between data creation and long-term sustainability.

Presented by the UK Heritage 3D Data at Risk (H3DAR) project, in partnership with Wikimedia UK, generously funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, and co-hosted by Bournemouth University this event marks the culmination of our research and the beginning of a new chapter for UK cultural heritage.

Please note:

  • Registration is free but space is limited to ensure high-quality collaborative sessions. Please register early to secure your spot in shaping the future of the UK’s digital legacy
  • Individually assessed bursaries are available for those unable to fully fund their attendance. Please note we can only support expenses incurred within the UK. To apply, please email [email protected].

Event Format

This event follows an "un-conference" style. While the morning begins with a project presentation, the subsequent sessions are participant-led. Attendees will propose and vote on the specific topics for discussion, ensuring the day focuses on the practical needs of the community.

Our work will involve outlining technical and organizational considerations and drafting solution briefs.

Our Goals for the Day
  1. Reflect: A concise recap of the H3DAR project findings and the current state of UK 3D data risk.
  2. Identify: Pinpoint the specific challenges, opportunities, and "must-haves" for those working with 3D heritage.
  3. Action: Lay the groundwork for a UK-focused platform designed to host, preserve, and display interactive 3D cultural heritage data.
