Film Night ‘H Is for Hawk’. (12A) A grief-stricken university fellow ruffles feathers when she buys a goshawk to cope with the death of a parent in director Philippa Lowthorpe’s touching drama adapted from Helen Macdonald’s memoir. Enjoy an outdoor film experience in the garden amongst nature. Doors open 6pm. Tickets £6/£8 Film start approx. 8.30pm outdoors weather permitting.There will be a special early indoor screening of the classic 'Kes' directed by Ken Loach based on the book by Barry Hines. It follows the story of Billy Caspar from a working class family who finds hope and freedom whilst training his pet kestrel. Doors open at 6pm. Film 6.45pm.
Some of the proceeds from this event will go towards funding bird boxes in memory of two of our friends, who sadly passed away this year. Both appreciated the natural world and had been volunteers at The Green Place, supporting our environmental work over the years. The bird boxes will be placed in suitable locations within schools and other community groups.
Look out for details of an afternoon bird box building session before the films.
