About this Event
Do you live, work, or in the Gwynns Falls watershed or Baltimore Harbor watershed? These two drainage areas make up over half of Baltimore City’s land and are subject to coastal, riverine, and rain-related (street-level) flooding –risks that are expected to increase as our world changes.
We want to hear from you as we develop a plan for a more resilient Baltimore! The Baltimore Department of Planning – Office of Sustainability’s Watershed Master Planning effort will focus on how to best manage construction and land use rules, infrastructure, and community engagement to create a safe and prosperous city. This effort will also contribute to increasing our city’s “Community Rating” under the Federal Emergency Management Agency, potentially saving residents money on flood insurance premiums. Other benefits of improved flood preparedness include better water quality and habitat, community greening, improved public health, and more equitable distribution of risk among our diverse communities.
We’d like to hear about where and how often you experience flooding in these watersheds and hear your feedback on the types of actions the City, property owners, and residents can take to better manage flood risk.
The doors will open at 5:30pm and the meeting will start at 6:00pm. Light refreshments will be provided.
