About this Event
is landing in Belfast to celebrate the release of its third print issue, A Hunger for Home. We'll serve up fresh copies of the mag, along with food by Phillip McCrilly.
Some of the best cooking begins at home. For Phillip McCrilly, it started in his mum’s kitchen, where pivotal lessons arrived quietly through the second helping of a favourite dish, rather than any fanfare. This story unfolds in his essay The Second Dinner.
For the Belfast launch, Phillip is drawing on these memories and blending them with Sian Conway's side-splitting Academic Ranking of Irish Sandwiches. Cheese toasties will be brimming with the good stuff, made with ingredients sourced as locally as possible.
Toasties will be served until sold out, with complimentary cocktails from Dingle Distillery available on a first-come, first-served basis. Comfort, nostalgia, and a little mischief at Belfast’s newest local, Tom’s.
Arrive early. Menu coming soon.
Issue Three: A Hunger for Home
The third issue of Guzzle explores the layered, often contradictory idea of home and its relationship with food. Through essays, artworks, and short-form writing, contributors consider how what we cook, consume, and gather around shapes our sense of belonging.
The event is free to attend, though guests may make a small donation to our chosen charity, The People’s Kitchen, to help provide hot meals to those in need. All proceeds from ticket donations will go directly to the charity after Eventbrite’s processing fee.
We are also donating a portion of the profits from Laura Callaghan’s print sales of her stunning cover artwork for issue three.
