Do you have a crafty child who loves to use their imagination and make things? Well this half-termly after-school G&G stitch academy is the perfect place for them to get creative and learn how to use a range of textile materials and tools (including the sewing machine), to make fun and exciting craft and accessories projects.
In this weekly children's sewing class, students will learn how to:
Thread a sewing machine.
Change the settings to sew a straight and a zigzag stitch
Work on a range of projects that they will be proud to show off!
Sewing projects will develop and change so students can join us with no experience. If they have already attended the G&G Stitch Academy before there will be plenty of new projects to inspire them! From patchwork cushion covers to mini bunting to decorate their bedroom, to pencil cases and pyjama shorties, there will be no stopping them once they have learnt the basics.
This is a half-termly after-school craft club for children aged between 7-15 years. There are 5-7 weekly sessions per course. Regardless of age or ability, children will choose from a range of projects to further develop their sewing skills. Children will work at a pace that suits them and projects will be tailored to their own level. Certain projects may be completed within one session, others may take a few weeks to complete. There will be a skills section of most classes to teach and progress essential sewing skills.
*Please note that for larger projects such as clothing, you may need to purchase fabric to use in the class. You will be notified in advance of this so you have time to get it.
"My daughter is absolutely loving sewing and is so excited to come each week. She is eager to join the next term so Iโ€™ve signed her up again. Thank you so much for doing this - itโ€™s an amazing life skill that I'd love to encourage!"
"She has absolutely loved the class and really enjoyed making things with the sewing machine, so much so that she is all booked up for next term!"
All skills are dependent upon the projects students undertake.
You will Learn:
How to use a sewing machine safely and confidently to sew a seam
How to use a sewing machine safely to make simple projects
How to use textile tools and equipment (e.g. tape measure, tailor's chalk, fabric scissors, pins)
How to turn neat corners on the sewing machine
How to be creative and imaginative when selecting fabrics for projects
How to do a range of different decorative techniques (such as hand embroidery stitches, machine embroidery stitches, hand appliquรฉ, how to attach a ribbon or trimming). These will vary depending upon the project and skill level of the child.
โญ๏ธ This is a booking only workshop with limited availability. To join us for this workshop please book your place via our website >> https://bit.ly/4bBMYkxโญ๏ธ
