Amongst the standing stones and rolling hills of the Wiltshire countryside, you’ll find Gus White living as a folk musician, record producer, festival organiser, and community maker with a deep love for the rooted and the heartfelt. When he isn't organising festivals, (Late Spring Folk Festival), open mic and folk nights at his local The Hatchet, and writing and performing with Dead Pages, his production credits are the string that tie together an emerging scene that refers to itself as “third-wave folk”, involving artists from Wiltshire, London and beyond, all of whom record with Gus. This includes microtonal and genre-fluid rising-star Maddie Ashman (producing recent single ‘Toffee’ and her Bandcamp-breaking 'Otherworld' EP), folk singer Minna, and UK Folk-charting artist Ann Liu Cannon. On November 14th, he releases his debut album, 'For Now, Anyway'. Produced, mixed and mastered by himself, and featuring the warmth and hiss of 2-inch tape, 'For Now, Anyway' tells his story of heartbreak and recovery after a devastating break-up. White reflects, “I wrote these songs to try to understand myself in a time of overwhelming uncertainty. Maybe so I had something to cling on to.” Recorded live at his home studio in Chute, with a band comprising local musicians and friends, Gus White blends folk, country and Americana in an album that feels home-grown, matured, and authentic in its direct, foundational songwriting.
Locally beloved for his warm and lively live shows, join us for an intimate instore where Gus will be celebrating his debut album release with a performance in the shop and signing copies of the album in-store.
