Join acclaimed international guitarist and composer Aaron Larget-Caplan for the release concert of Guitar America 250, a sweeping musical tribute to 250 years of American creativity and courage. Taking place Sunday May 3 at 6pm in the beautiful Charlene Larsen Center for the Performing Arts, this one-hour program traces the nation’s evolving voice through music of revolutionaries, abolitionists, suffragists, immigrants, and rock legends.
The program features works by iconic composers and songwriters including Leonard Bernstein, Irving Berlin, Julia Ward Howe, John Stafford Smith, J. Rosamond Johnson, Ian Wiese, and icons Paul Simon, and Eddie Van Halen.
Larget-Caplan will be joined by guest artists from Astoria for spoken recitations of poems by Frances Harper, Walt Whitman, and James Madison's Bill of Rights, Amended by Aaron Larget-Capalan.
