A morning guided walk to view the shipping lanes and Mulberry harbour. We have the Phoenix Caisson C1-126 which was a section of a Mulberry harbour which was to be towed across to the Normandy coast and assembled to aid the allied invasion in 1944. This section never made it and has sat in the Thames estuary for over 80 years.
Occasionally it is safe to visit if you are experienced with the tides and understand how the weather conditions both here and further up the North Sea / along the South coast mean the tides can vary greatly from what is predicted in tide tables.
Please don’t go without a guide unless you have good knowledge of the tides, and terrain. Some people get into big trouble every year.
