About this Event
Now that leaves have fully emerged, let’s find the characteristics that distinguish different species of hickories, oaks, and pines while meandering in the shade.
Join Charlottesville Area Tree Steward Emily Ferguson as she points out clues to help you build confidence in your own tree ID skills. This is an easy-to-moderate walk over unimproved woodland trails that join the Rivanna Trail and can sometimes be muddy.
If you are already a tree enthusiast, please bring your favorite tree ID book, hand lens, and/or binoculars as aids. Please dress according to the weather conditions as we will not be walking fast, wear hiking boots or sneakers, and bring water and food, if necessary. We will meet in front of the VA Department of Forestry.
Please note: There are no restrooms available at the VDoF on the weekend.
All walks are free, but donations are always appreciated. Thanks!
