Explore historic Bolton Street Cemetery in central Wellington (just off The Terrace) with experienced guides. Hear entertaining and surprising stories with Tiptoe Through the Tombstones.
Tiptoe Through the Tombstones, starting at the Seddon memorial on Sundays at 2.00pm. A fascinating tour of Wellington's early history. The stories go far beyond well-known names from history, giving glimpses of ordinary people who made their home here.
Seize this opportunity to learn more about NZ’s oldest town cemetery and the lives of some of its many and varied occupants, people who lived in nineteenth-century Wellington. Hear wonderful stories from our colonial past as well as a reminder of the disruption caused by the construction of Wellington's Urban Motorway. Settlers and Māori were buried in this beautiful heritage cemetery, and their headstones can give us intriguing information.
All Sunday tours leave from the Kinross Street entrance to the Cemetery. The tours finish at the little museum in lower Bolton Street, just off the Terrace.
Children 12 & under: free (no ticket required).
Well-behaved dogs on leads welcome.
