Guelph 200 Kick-off and Harnessing the Spark Workshop

Thursday, April 23, 2026

2:00 โ€“ 5:00 pm

Draught Picks Tap House and Grill, inside the Sleeman Centre, 50 Woolwich Street

(entrance from the upper floor of Old Quebec Street Shoppes)

The Guelph 200 Kick-off invites us to come together to unveil the Guelph 200 brand and creatively imagine what 2027 can entail, with the support of spoken word poet Beth Anne Ellipsis and visual artist Alexa Colette.

Stay after the festivities for โ€œHarnessing the Sparkโ€ a special workshop designed to grow connections and inspiration among bicentennial enthusiasts across sectors. This workshop aims to uncover opportunities to grow ideas into activations throughout the community. Weโ€™ll explore possible collaborations, resource sharing, and opportunities to grow fledgling ideas and exciting plans already in motion for community-driven Guelph 200 initiatives.

Registration is required.

RSVP for the Kick-off Remarks OR Harnessing the Spark Workshop OR Both!

About the Artists

Beth Anne Ellipsis is a Guelph based performance poet. She crafts her words to reflect the lives of herself and those around her. Her work is earth inspired and speaks to the struggle we all face to find our true self and place in community. She is the founder of Guelph Spoken Word, a performance poetry arts org; fostering poetic space for your voice in public dialogue. She has competed in multiple national slam competitions, written commissioned poems and facilitated student workshops.

(she/her) works primarily in drawing, painting, and textiles. This work extends to murals, illustration, and installation pieces. Her practice revolves around the body, emotions and the psychological experience of being a sensitive human. Alexa currently works as an Art Educator at the Elora Centre for the Arts, a bookmaker at PS Guelph, and she co-founded Outlet in 2020 with Maeve Hind. Since then, she has engaged community members in facilitated art experiences. She is also pursuing a Master of Teaching degree at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) in Toronto.
