Huntingdon Drama Club's autumn production is Terry Pratchett's Guards! Guards! Adapted for the stage by Stephen Briggs, this is standard Pratchett fare; blending his trademark humour with the rich fantasy world he has created. Terry Pratchett’s infamous city of Ankh-Morpork is under threat from a 60-foot fire-breathing dragon, summoned by a secret society of malcontented tradesmen led by the conniving Lupine Wonse.
Defending Ankh-Morpork against this threat is the entire, underpaid, under-valued City Night Watch – a drunken and world-weary Captain, a cowardly Sergeant, a small opportunistic Corporal of dubious parentage…and their newest recruit, Lance-Corporal Carrot, who is upright, literal, law-abiding and keen. Aiding them in their fight for truth, justice and the Ankh-Morporkian way are a small swamp dragon; the Librarian of Unseen University (who just happens to be an orangutan); and local swamp-dragon-breeder Lady Ramkin.
Guards! Guards! will run at The Commemoration Hall from 26th-29th November for a total of five performances (including a Saturday matinee.) Tickets are available from ticketsource.co.uk/huntsdramaclub and can also be purchased (cash only) from the Huntingdon Commemoration Hall Visitor Centre during opening hours.
