About this Event
The ASCE Geotechnical Group Annual Full Day Seminar:
GROUND IMPROVEMENT METHODS
Up to Six PDHs pending approval.
Whether for a highway embankment or a warehouse building, when subsurface conditions are poor, ground improvement techniques are often used as a cost-effective foundation support solution as an alternative to deep foundations. But besides just foundation support, there are many other scenarios when ground improvement techniques can be useful – support of excavation, settlement control, slope stability to name a few. In this full-day workshop, Mr. DiMaggio, an internationally recognized expert on design, construction, and performance assessment and monitoring of infrastructure features like highways, railways, buildings, and energy facilities, will introduce the attendees to various types of ground improvement techniques and their appropriate applications. He will then discuss geomaterial design parameter selection as it relates to ground improvement system analysis and design, and then focus on the following additional topics:
- Prefabricated vertical drains
- Lightweight fill materials
- Stone columns, geopiers, and controlled modulus columns
- Load transfer platforms
- Geosynthetics
Special Note: Mr. DiMaggio will also introduce the audience to ASCE Geo Institute’s Geotech Tools.
Registration will begin at 8:30am. Program includes Continental Breakfast, Buffet Lunch, Coffee Breaks, & Seminar Proceedings
