The PKU Guanghua School of Management Alumni Association of the Eastern U.S. is pleased to host a finance panel discussion at Fou Gallery on November 1st. We are honored to welcome distinguished speakers Shanquan Li, Gang Hu, and Dapeng Hu for a thought-provoking conversation on "Global Turning Points: Economic Outlook, Structural Shifts, and the Chinese Experience in a Changing World."
Following the discussion, guests are invited to join a walk-through of Fou Gallery's current exhibition, Forsaken with a Side of Pickles by Iranian-American artist Saba Farhoudina, guided by Echo Yu He, founder of Fou Gallery and a PKU-GSM alumna.
Speaker's Bio:
Shanquan Li: Mr. Li was a former Senior Portfolio Manager at Invesco. He had been managing the Gold and Special Minerals Fund for over 29 years. Mr. Li ioined Invesco when Oppenheimer Funds combined with Invesco in 2019. He joined Oppenheimer Funds in 1995. Prior to that, he was a senior analyst in the investment management policy group of Brown Brothers Harriman from 1991. He started his career with Acadian Asset Management in 1989. Before entering the investment business, he was a senior researcher for the Development Research Center of the State Council in China.
Mr. Li earned a B.A. degree in Statistics and Management Planning from the Renmin University of China, and an M.A. in International Finance and Economics from Brandeis University.
Dapeng Hu, PhD, CFA, is a board member of the Alumni Association of Guanghua School of Management in Eastern America. An accomplished executive and expert in investment research analytics and in mortgages and structured products, Dapeng has 20 plus years of experience on Wall Street, including BlackRock, Wells Fargo and Citi. Before joining the industry he was a research faculty in the Real Estate Center, The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. Dapeng holds a PhD from University of Pennsylvania, a MS degree from The University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a BS degree from Peking University.
Mr Hu is the founder and a longtime volunteer of the Huaxia Chinese School of Greater New York. He also serves as a board member of the Peking University Alumni Association of New York, a board member of the China Institute Finance & Economics Club, and an advisory board member of The Business School of the Nanyang Technological University.
Gang Hu: Mr. Gang Hu is the founder and CIO of WinShore Capital, a U.S. hedge fund specialized in Relative Value Trading with Macro instruments. Before WinShore, he was a Portfolio Manager at BlueCrest Capital Management LLP, focusing on global trading especially in inflation markets. He has 24 years of experience in the financial market, most of which in inflation trading. Before joining BlueCrest, Gang Hu was a Managing Director at Credit Suisse responsible for U.S. Linear Rates Trading and Global Inflation Business. Prior to that, he was an Executive Vice President at PIMCO, in the Real Return team and co-managed the largest inflation fund group in the world.
Gang Hu holds a BA degree in Applied Mathematics from Tsinghua University in Beijing, China, and a Ph.D. degree in Applied Mathematics from California Institute of Technology.
