About this Event
In line with this year’s Doors Open Days theme, explore how generations of GSA creatives have shaped Glasgow’s cultural, artistic and built environment with an exclusive, behind-the-scenes tour of The Glasgow School of Art’s Archives and Collections.
Housed at The Whisky Bond, the Archives and Collections span over 160 years of art, design and architecture – from contemporary works to iconic Mackintosh pieces, stunning textiles, jewellery, posters and more. Together, they tell the story of GSA’s community and its lasting influence on the city.
This free, guided tour, led by knowledgeable staff, will showcase a selection of remarkable items – from Mackintosh furniture and Joan Eardley’s work to suffragette memorabilia, fashion show pieces, student registers and an impressive poster collection. Recent acquisitions and rarely seen treasures will be on display across the Reading Room, Workroom and Collection Stores.
Join us for a glimpse into GSA’s creative legacy, preserved and reimagined – and discover how its Archives continue to inspire new generations today.
