About this Event
Join us for our annual Gruyère d'Alpage Cracking! This exciting cheese is a summertime favorite due to its seasonal terroir. Alpage Gruyere is made through the act of “transhumance”, the act of moving cows from the lowlands up to the highlands to graze on lush summer grass, wildflowers, and herbs. This traditionally happens between May and October, meaning the milk used to make this cheese was produced last year. We’ll be opening up a wheel of Gruyere from the Brenleires Chalet, one of only 50 chalets in Switzerland that’s able to produce this certified AOP cheese, for free samples and fresh wedges to take home to welcome the first day of summer. This free demonstration starts at 5:30 pm at our shop and will include samples, refreshments, and other pairings to highlight our unique producers and products. RSVP below so we know how much accoutrement to prepare.
