Each month, we’ll explore a different topic to support you through the ups and downs of parenting—from toddler tantrums to anxiety.This monthly workshop series is designed to give parents evidence-based tools, expert insight, and a whole lot of reassurance. Led by pediatricians, child psychologists, and specialists from Tosa Pediatrics, each class tackles a real-life parenting topic—from tantrums and big feelings to pre-teen transitions.
Play is an essential part of a child’s development during this early stage of life. It allows infants and young toddlers to explore their world, build physical and cognitive skills, and strengthen social bonds.
Types of play include:
- sensorimotor play (exploring with hands and mouth)
- social play (interacting with caregivers or peers)
- constructive play (early attempts to stack or manipulate objects)
This talk will explore how the importance of play enhances a child’s physical, language, social-emotional, and cognitive development as well as parent-child interaction. We will discover how play is a key tool for healthy development during the first two years, helping infants and toddlers develop essential skills across all areas of growth. We will demonstrate how to encourage and foster playfulness and create environments where children can explore and learn safely.
