Grow Your Portfolio. Elevate Your Practice. Five meetings, Thursday 6-8 pm every two weeks (April 16 & 30, May 14 & 28, June 11)

Meeting every two weeks for five sessions, this seminar invites photographers to deepen their practice and strengthen their portfolios through guided peer critique, discussion, and experimentation. Led by visual artist Claudia Sohrens, whose work spans photography, curating, and research, the course fosters a reflective and supportive space for emerging photographers to begin new projects or continue developing existing bodies of work. Participants will refine their visual language, clarify their artistic direction, and cultivate an authentic, personal voice. Through individual portfolio reviews, peer discussions, and in-depth feedback, participants will:

· Refine their artistic direction and visual storytelling

· Strengthen and sequence a cohesive body of work for exhibition, publication, or grant applications

· Explore strategies for presenting and sharing their work across print, web, and book/zine formats

· Engage with historical and contemporary photographic practices that connect personal vision to cultural and social contexts

This seminar is open to all photographic genres and working methods, and supports digital, analog, and hybrid approaches.

Course Level / Prerequisite: Intermediate

Participants should have prior experience operating cameras (film or digital), including exposure, aperture, shutter speed, and basic image processing. Comfort with editing and readiness to engage critically with conceptual development, sequencing, and presentation are essential.
