Join us on Tuesday mornings during term time for outdoor nature adventures. If you would like to bring a group or children please enquire first as we have a limit on capacity. We explore the seasons on nature walks around the allotments looking for seasonal treasures such as birds, insects, trees, worms, snails and spiders, wild flowers, leaves, animal footprints as well as admire all the fruit and vegetables that plot holders are growing. There is a micro orchard on site, honey bee hives and a beautiful wooden hut where some weeks we will stop for nature crafts. The allotment paths are uneven with trip hazards and plants that can spike and sting. We encourage self resilience and independence by identifying these plants to each participant and clear such plants from the childrenβs main playing area.
The allotment has uneven paths, but is pushchair and off road wheelchair friendly to a degree (large wheelchairs and double pushchairs won't get through the gate to our plot, but can be left outside the plot). Toilets on site, however they are locked in the winter to prevent ice damage.
We will meet at the pedestrian entrance to the allotments between 66 and 68 on Sunny Bank Road. Meet at 10am. Sessions are mostly outdoors, so all attendees must be dressed for the days weather.
We are pleased to be able to host these special events to you free of charge thanks to funding from The National Lottery Community Fund.
