A 4-week small-group sound therapy series at Mt Coot-tha using live sound, reflection & deep rest for stress, anxiety & overwhelm support.
About this Event

ABOUT THE EVENT

If you’ve been feeling stressed, anxious, overwhelmed, mentally tired, or caught in constant overthinking, this four-week Group Sound Therapy series offers a calm and supportive space to take a break, reflect, and rest more deeply.

This is different from a regular sound bath.

A public sound bath is mostly a restful listening experience. Group Sound Therapy is smaller, more focused, and more reflective.

Each session begins seated, with a short guided reflection around stress and anxiety. You may be invited to notice how you feel, where stress or anxiety shows up, how it affects you, and what your relationship with it feels like at that moment.

You do not need to explain your personal situation or share the cause of your stress or anxiety. If you choose to speak, the focus is on how it is affecting you now, rather than the full story behind it.

After the opening reflection, you’ll lie down on a provided mattress while I play gongs, bowls, percussion, and layered sounds in a steady, immersive flow. The sounds are chosen and played to support calm, quietness, rest, and settling.

At the end, we return slowly and take time to notice what has shifted. You may reflect privately, write notes, or share if you choose.

Sharing is always optional.

WHY FOUR WEEKS?

Stress and anxiety usually shift gradually.

A single session can be helpful, but a four-week process gives you time to notice what is happening, rest with it, return the next week, and continue from there.

Each week can build on what you noticed the week before. The space between sessions matters too. You have time to live with what you notice, let it settle, and come back with a clearer sense of what is still present.

WHY STRESS & ANXIETY?

This first Group Sound Therapy series is focused on stress and anxiety.

Keeping the group centred around one shared theme helps me shape the reflection questions, pacing, structure, and live sound with more care and consistency for the people attending.

Future Group Sound Therapy sessions may explore other themes.

A GROUNDED APPROACH

Most of us already know that music and sound can affect how we feel.

We choose different music when we want energy, comfort, focus, movement, or calm. Group Sound Therapy begins from that familiar place.

These sessions are based on live sound, listening, reflection, rest, and careful facilitation. They do not require any particular belief system.

This is a complementary wellbeing session, not a replacement for counselling, psychology, medical care, mental health treatment, or crisis support.

For some people, sound therapy may support integration by giving them quiet time to absorb, reflect on, and settle with things they already understand intellectually.

WHO THIS MAY SUIT

This series may suit you if you are:

  • feeling stressed or anxious
  • mentally busy or caught in overthinking
  • emotionally tired
  • finding it hard to switch off
  • carrying tension in the body
  • wanting a calm space to rest and reflect
  • curious about sound therapy, but prefer a grounded approach
  • looking for a small group rather than a large public event

No previous experience with sound baths, meditation, or therapy is needed.

.

WHAT YOU MAY EXPERIENCE

People may leave feeling calmer, clearer, more settled, more rested, less tense, or more aware of what they are carrying.

During the sound, you may feel deeply relaxed, dream-like, emotional, heavy, light, warm, spacious, or simply quiet. You may also notice thoughts, memories, body sensations, or nothing much at all.

There is no right way to experience the session, and there is no required outcome.

COMFORT & WHAT TO BRING

Mattresses and sheets will be provided.

Chairs will also be available if lying down is uncomfortable.

You may like to bring:

  • pillow
  • blanket
  • eye pillow
  • water bottle
  • notepad or journal, if you would like to write anything down
  • comfortable clothing
  • any small personal comfort item that helps you rest

BEFORE ATTENDING

Because this is a small-group series focused on stress and anxiety, you will be asked to complete a short pre-session form before your place is confirmed.

This is not a clinical assessment. It is simply a suitability check for this particular group format.

If you are currently in acute distress, crisis, or needing immediate mental health support, this series may not be suitable at this time.

If you are pregnant, especially in the first trimester, or if you have epilepsy, significant sound sensitivity, recent surgery or injury, an implanted medical device, or any condition that makes you unsure about attending, please contact me before applying and check with your healthcare provider where appropriate.

ABOUT TOM

I’m Tom, a Sound Therapist and Musician.

I run immersive sound sessions designed to support rest, reflection, and personal wellbeing.

Everything you hear is played live, using gongs, bowls, percussion, and layered textures that fill the room.

My approach is calm, grounded, and welcoming. I focus on sound, listening, sensitivity, atmosphere, and care, rather than asking people to believe in any particular spiritual or wellness framework.

Professionally trained in Sound Therapy, I guide the session with attention to the people in the room, the shared focus of the group, and the way the sound is unfolding in the moment.

and his background.
