About this Event
Hey people with excellent taste in music! Tyler Blue here… Music Director for the legendary Crazy Horse Saloon. During the pandemic when we couldn’t do indoor shows, I started producing events at a spectacular outdoor property called Rosebud Ranch. Located just five miles from downtown Nevada City, this natural amphitheater is a stone’s throw from the Old 49 Bridge on the South Yuba River. (You will be contacted within days of your ticket purchase with the exact location and event details) It’s one of those special places on earth where your mood feels instantly elevated once setting foot on the land. An evening at Rosebud is like a full reboot for the soul!
Over the last five years, it has become a coveted destination for music lovers seeking a space that seems to exist in a realm parallel to reality where imagination takes flight into blissful frontiers. A trio of shows featuring different projects from Dan “Lebo” Lebowitz rank as the ultimate highlights – magicgravy, Lebo & Friends and Bone Diggers. It’s a very relaxed setting where many people set up chairs and blankets on the hillside, bring their own food and beverages, meet new friends and just soak up the vibes. Dancers love the spongey astro turf dancefloor which invites freedom of movement unlike any other. Rosebud is an all-ages venue where the music starts early around 7 and ends by 11. The bonfire will be roaring and magic will be afoot.
Rosebud’s 2025 live music season will quickly enter into orbit with GrooveSession. This band has played countless performances at the Crazy Horse since 2014 and are perfectly suited to present their intergalactic sound in the great wide-open space of the ranch. They have been a long-time fixture at the June Lake Jam Fest and are one of this year’s headliners. To get a good idea of what they’re all about, look to their song called “Last Gig.” It centers on embracing every moment to its fullest and taking nothing for granted. We all need that reminder more than ever these days, don’t we? They are the embodiment of a band that holds nothing back and leaves it all on stage.
Fueled by the thunderous rhythmic duo of brothers Manny and Ronnie Sanchez, GrooveSession is as fun to watch as they are to hear. This pair approach the drums and bass with a cartoonish ferocity not unlike The Muppets. They break the floodgates with raw intensity while maintaining breathtaking finesse. Manny also happens to be one of the best singing drummers you’ll ever witness. Levon Helm would approve!
Joining them on guitar is Joe Marcinek of the Joe Marcinek Band and Dead Funk Summit. Originating from the Midwest, this friendly cat has established a formidable reputation stemming from many super group arrangements, featuring such illustrious collaborators as Melvin Seals, George Porter Jr., Stanton Moore, Mononeon, Tony Hall (Dumpstaphunk) and countless others. These includes members of The Motet, Pretty Lights, Soulive, Phil Lesh and Friends and The Nth Power, just to name a few. His soaring, melodic guitar lines will take us to the promised land. Keyboard assassin Alex Mello rounds out the group with a symphony of immersive sound to fire every neuron.
Drawing from a wealth of truly inspiring original material and tantalizing covers, GrooveSession will whip the dance floor into a frenzy at the drop of a hat. When that signature GrooveSession funky, rocking, swampy soul hits the airwaves, you’ll have no choice but to surrender. Throw in an electro onslaught of keyboard wizardry, a little bit of So. Cal reggae and copious amounts of freewheeling improv and the element of surprise becomes more intoxicating than ever.
