It’s that time again — The 5 AM Crew Ugly Sweater Hike is back! We’re ending the year with laughs, tamales, and a climb to one of LA’s most iconic views — the Hollywood Sign.
5 AM Crew – Ugly Sweater Potluck Hike

Hey everyone, quick update!
We’re officially turning this into the Ugly Sweater Potluck Hike – the hike plus a potluck and a $20 unisex White Elephant gift exchange at the park after.
Here are all the details:
Meetup
• 4:45 AM – Arrive early
• 5:00 AM sharp – We start hiking
• Location: Merry-Go-Round Parking Lot #1 (no address, please Google it)
The Hike
• We’re hiking all the way to the Hollywood Sign
• We’ll take our big ugly-sweater group picture at the top
• This route is 8+ miles, fast to moderate pace with checkpoints
• Not a beginners hike
What to Bring
• Hiking boots or trail runners (no tennis shoes please)
• At least 1 liter of water
• Snacks + any medication you need
• A $20 unisex gift if you want to join the White Elephant game
• Ugly sweater – I recommend putting it in your backpack and wearing it at the top (they get hot fast)
• Holiday accessories like light-up necklaces are fun and encouraged
• If you have one, please bring a 6-foot table or any folding chairs for the potluck setup
Potluck
• Goal is to be back down by 8:30 AM
• We’ll set up at the park right next to the parking lot
• Please bring something to share
• White Elephant ($20 gift, unisex, fun, optional)
• This is a great chance for anyone who’s wanted to join us to finally jump in and be part of the community
Reminders
• We keep a steady pace
• We stay together at checkpoints
• Dogs are welcome if leashed
• Everyone is fully responsible for their own health and safety
• Bring a charged headlamp – it will be dark
Last year this was one of our most fun holiday hikes and we’re doing it again.
