About this Event
Join us for a grief ritual at Southern Dharma Oasis on Sunday November 17th to be with others who are grieving in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.
All are welcome, regardless of faith background, spiritual tradition or prior experience with meditation.
The ritual will take place from 10 am - 12 pm
This will be an opportunity to slow down, rest, and honor all of the ways we have been affected in the weeks since the disaster hit.
There will be a grounding meditation, time for reflection, journaling, and group sharing. Together we will create an altar, and make room for anything that is arising in a safe container of sacred witnessing.
Tea and snacks will be provided to follow.
*Space Limited to 25 people*
Optional items to bring:
~ Bring a journal if you have one (notepads will be provided if you need one)
~ Bring a blanket if you'd like to feel extra cozy
~ Bring something to place on our altar that has been meaningful to you during the past several weeks
*A friendly reminder to please stay home if you are feeling sick
About Em Berkey (they/them):
Em is a politicized healer with a passion for making connection to Spirit, each other, and the land more accessible and possible.
Their offerings are rooted in Jewish principles of time, cycles, song, mysticism and relationship tending to the more than human world.
“As a Jewish ritualist, I draw from the well of my wise ancestors and sacred text to create and hold space for the marking of time. Rituals mark transitions, moments of newness, cycles in the year, and holy remembering as a way of honoring our individual and collective experiences.
I aim to create ritual that invites connection to self, to others and to the Divine or All That Is, reminding us that our very being is inherently sacred. I work in collaboration with those involved, with the intention of meeting people where they are at, bringing their unique essence into the creative process and design. I lead rituals that are embodied and rooted in our senses and seasonal settings.
I find myself turning to spiritual care because it brings me great joy to witness people on this spiritual path of re-membering, grieving and wrestling with All That Is. Spiritual care is the act of being present, of getting in touch with our creativity and most authentic selves.”
